Oh how I wish to be out and about photographing people right now. All this time spent at home brings up so many challenges but it has the wheels turning as I think of how Noi Tran Photography will navigate 2021. I’m still a full-time student hoping to complete the Radiologic Tech program by 2023 and I still want to balance photography part-time. Like most photographers, looking ahead at 2021 isn’t quite a clear picture to visualize and because of that planning just seems like a vain effort. Planning is always a good thing but with these circumstances, planning has to be so much more intentional than ever before.
I’ve got my planning notebook and favorite color pens out and I’m writing out my mantras and favorite inspirational quotes. I like starting out with encouraging quotes before I write down my goals and ideas for the business. What I also like to do is look back at some of my favorite sessions and write down why I love it so much. This allows me to carry over into the new year (new season) what kind of sessions/projects I want to accomplish.
Maria at Ponce City Market was definitely a favorite last summer. I had a lot of fun trying out new contrast filters on the Hasselblad 500cm and now I’m thinking, why did I not use it more often last year?
Isn’t Maira gorgeous? I can’t even remember which filter I used but I own a yellow and green one. I definitely need to keep the filters in my camera bag and remember to pull them out when shooting black and white.
I love this session with Maria and I love her wild hair! I had hoped to collaborate with her again shortly after this shoot but timing didn’t work out because of her traveling schedule (Thailand being her first stop–so jelly btw). I’m looking forward to her return so we can make more beautiful portraits together!
