A Fun Confetti Filled New Year’s Eve Party | Atlanta Event Photographer

I’ve got a special photoshoot to share with you all today! Our human brains don’t understand the meaning of slowing down so we’re going to dive right into a New Year’s inspired shoot. Yep. It’s time to draw out those plans on your New Year’s Eve party.

Thanks to Surita of Surita Photography for nudging me a couple times about making this shoot happen. It all started with my insanely obsession with the mix-match glassware (that I’ve been collecting as of now) and I wanted to do a cocktail type styled shoot that eventually led to me wanting to do a New Year’s Eve styled shoot. So here we are.

This inspiration sort of came from watching The Holiday, a must watch around this time of the year. I loved the end of the movie, how the main couples had an intimate New Year’s Eve celebration at home and they were dressed to the nines. Minus the cozy living room space and fireplace, here we have a set up using black velvet curtains as the focal and we’re in our apartment loft instead of a cute English cottage ha ha. With a few DIY treats, we’ve got a party inspiration anyone can pull off.

We had two main highlights of the shoot—A 1970s Smak Parlour dress and our champagne table! How gorgeous is Caty in this vintage inspired dress? I love the way she played with the batwing sleeves which really made the dress come alive. Her captivating beauty and this dress is fitting for the runway. This dress was made for Caty!

Surita found the Jell-O shot recipe from TikTok user Jessica Neff (find the recipe here). With only a few ingredients you can have a fun and playful adult treat that will have everyone in good spirits. White cranberry strawberry juice, unflavored Jell-O mix and champagne! That’s it folks. We topped off the shots with pretty gold glitter sugar. We put our Jell-O shots in glass cups for aesthetics but you have to put them in disposable cups so it’s easier to “squeeze and pop” into your mouth.

And then we have these delectable cake pops by my favorite YouTube cook and baker, John Kanell (recipe here). I have tried so many of his recipes and they never disappoint. So when he posted his easy Oreo balls I knew this would be the perfect dessert for our New Year’s Eve shoot. I don’t make cake pops but these looked super easy and it actually was. It started to get a bit time consuming cause of having to wait for the white coating to drip off the stick before placing them onto a tray to finish drying. But these were so good y’all!!! So it’s worth it. And I love that you don’t have to display them upright. That’s the hardest part for me which is why I never make cake pops. I made a few extras to pack away as gifts. So note guys, these make great party favors to send home with your guests!

For the shoot, we added the festive toothpicks cause you can never have enough sparkle on the table.

Now back to our models for just another glorious minute.

My friend Genie coming in with all the Femme Fatale vibes that we needed to make the shoot even more fun. She also has the coolest collection of matches, most of them souvenirs from her travel to Japan and of course we used the matches to spread out on her coffee table. Pretty neat right?

I did the floral arrangement myself and I can tell you, that was probably the most stressful part of planning the shoot. In the past when I was a full time wedding photographer, I’ve worked alongside event planners who usually pulls together the creative team but we pulled this styled together in about two weeks so luck wasn’t on our side finding a florist to join us. I went to Michael’s and bought some artificial stems and did my best to put an arrangement together. All my time spent with my friend Alyssa of Ginger Rose Florals did give me pointers. I’m always amazed at how she throws a centerpiece together and I thought of her as I did my creation. I did send her a video and photos and she gave me her final thoughts and approved. So if you want florals, I would still suggest buying an arrangement from the florist or just heading to your local flower market and grab some already put together bouquets. Don’t stress yourself out on making a centerpiece like I did. I know I mentioned this shoot can be pulled off by anyone and it can, just do yourself a favor and hire a florist or check out Facebook Market and don’t stress over it!

Finally, our champagne table. You see these gorgeous champagne towers at weddings and big parties but you can totally do a more intimate and smaller scale champagne tower. Thanks to our friend at The Vintage Dish Girl for providing these beautiful coupes and for also providing all the pretty plates for our goodies.

Pairing nicely with our champagne tower is this gorgeous crafted charcuterie board by The Honey Melon Board. We DIY’d everything except this board. A charcuterie board is such a lovely gesture that really leaves quite an impression on your guests. Everyone loves a charcuterie board. You get to pair different meats with cheese and finding other simple pleasures as you dig through the board is pretty exciting! I also feel like a charcuterie board is a great conversation starter. Who doesn’t like talking about good meats and cheese??

As you can see, Surita and I joined in on the fun cause why not? Also, be sure to check out Surita’s take on this shoot by visiting her Instagram page!

Okay, so the vibe of the shoot wasn’t exactly The Holiday but the idea totally came from their at home intimate gathering. The point is that you don’t need a large group of people to dress your best and have fun. Confetti, bubbly, cake (pops) and (Jell-O) shots—it’s the simple necessary must haves to throw a NYE’s party! We munched, we drank, we dressed up for it, and we had so much fun!!! Now go and have yourself a fun New Year’s Eve celebration friends!!!
