Intimate Rainy Backyard Wedding | Stone Mountain GA | Atlanta Photographer

Of course we all envisioned the perfect sunny day for such an intimate backyard wedding but what we ended up with was quite the downpour! It rained and rained and rained. But you guys–even with the rain, Stephen and Suhhui’s nuptials ranks number one on my list of favorite intimate celebrations.

It was such an honor to have witness and to have documented this inspiring couple. Their love is a testament that proves the old adage, ‘love finds you when you least expect it‘.

The rain had lighten up right before we had the First Look but as soon as we were in place, it picked back up. But the rain did not stop these two from having their moment. They embraced what the day was going to give them and had the biggest smiles on their face knowing that very soon they were going to be Mr. and Mrs.

I’m so blown away by these gorgeous florals by the talented Robin of Rhapsody In Blooms. I later found out that Robin’s grandfather officiated the wedding! This was truly an intimate celebration with all the close knit family and friends in attendance. Robin mentioned that she got to work as a family with her mother, father, partner and sister helping out. An absolutely wonderful job to everyone!

As I got to know Stephen and Suhhui during the planning process the couple also shared many garden tips with me. I am certainly a garden enthusiast but I don’t have the greatest green thumb. One of my favorite garden bushes includes the lovely scented gardenias. I’ve planted them three times and they never survive. So Stephen explained the trick to planting gardenias is to make sure they don’t go into shock. To keep 50% of the original soil so that it has time to acclimate. Who would have known!!! I mean, when you purchase gardenias, the instructions itself says to dig a certain amount of inches and to use ground soil. But nothing about 50/50. So you can all bet that I will try this out come spring time and fingers cross I get me some gardenia bushes. My neighbor has had the same issue (cause like I said, the instructions on the planter are super basic) and I certainly shared this tip with her. One of us is bound to have gardenias right?!?!

A big congratulations again to these two lovely souls. Thank you for having me and for sharing your garden tips with me too!
