Baby Marcus Newborn Family Session in Savannah Georgia | Lifestyle Photography

In light of the world’s current affairs, my little family decided to do a road trip to Savannah. The big kid didn’t come—of course. He’s at that age where being with your parents is totally not cool. So we gave him the chore of watching over the dogs while we spent some time in the historic city down south.

Leading up to the trip I was filled with so much excitement! Mainly because I hadn’t done any traveling since pregnancy and since covid19 , except to Nashville (but it was under construction so there weren’t many spots to explore). I was also excited to be visiting a friend who had just had a baby boy and to photograph her new addition.

I’m happy for my friends and more so happy that my own little babe will have friends his age to grow up with. I love imagining the stories we’ll share with our kids on their childhood adventure together.

Meeting Marcus totally took me back to Brayden’s newborn stage. Gosh I can’t believe how tiny newborn babies are! Marcus here was born a little early but for being here early, he’s a wonderful size! He’s perfect!

Marcus was such an angel y’all. He was not fussy (at least not after I put my camera in silent mode). I think we could have photographed longer but we were all getting super hungry by evening time. As we neared the end of the session though, I took the newly parents and little baby outside to catch a bit of the golden light. Savannah golden light is AH-MAZING you guys. Had we not been attacked by killer gnats, we would have stayed out longer. Okay, they weren’t killer gnats and I would never put a baby in danger like that, but it was a total shock the way they swarmed at us. Once we got inside away from the crazy bugs, I went back to snap a few details, cause well, I do love Savannah trees.

I absolutely love what we were able to get outdoors though. That bit of magical golden light peaking behind the Spanish moss filled trees gave us the loveliest sunset. It was a perfect way to end the session (minus the gnats).

I am truly humbled to have been able to document such an important moment for our friend Thy and her husband Dominic. I loved getting to meet Marcus and seeing Brayden meet his new friend. It was also so great to catch up with Thy and without fail, Vu and Thy brought up all their high school days. As I sat and listened, one story to the next, I knew the Miami trip would pop up in the midst of their chatting. And it did. Thy exclaimed “I still have the photo of you climbing the coconut tree barefooted Vu!” This story describes Vu‘s monkey-like nature so it’s often reminisced about. It makes me wonder, what mischievous things both Brayden and Marcus will get into. Oh the stories we’ll tell and the adventures they will make.

Thank you Thy for trusting me to document your milestone and for being such a great host! I can hardly wait for the boys to actually run around and begin playing with each other!
